Can you believe that it has been 2 years?! My boy has grown so big and is learning so much. He loves singing, counting objects, identifying colors and is learning multiple words everyday. We need to go to the library weekly to keep up with his interest in reading. He is also a wonderful help around the house, he is eager every morning after breakfast to help mom sweep and mop the living room and kitchen-- if he had his way I'm sure we would do it ten times a day.
Specific to CP
Before I go into my physical condition I should let you know that my husband and I recently welcomed a new angel in to our family, this time a beautiful princess! She is so precious I can hardly express myself, I love her so completely.
This pregnancy went very smoothly even though I did not do physical therapy, also I opted out of an epidural and my spasticity did not interfere with my delivery-- infact she came so fast that 20 minutes after they told me I was 5 centimeters I was holding her in my arms.
I have to admit though, that since the cold weather has arrived my chronic pain has increased to an unusual level, especially on days I have to take both children out on my own. I don't know if it will be perminate, season specific or if with time and better physical condition the increase in pain will fade. Really though it is a small sacrifice, I know that many other women sacrifice much more for their families.
I wish there was an easy way for me to express my feelings. I wanted to say though that I am overjoyed by my choice to be a mother and I am glad that my story has helped others.
--------------
I plan on this being my last blog post, however I know that there are many other women with CP who have experienced pregnancy. Since we are all different in type and severity when it comes to Cerebral Palsy I would like to invite those who are interested to share their stories. You can submit your story to ihavecp@gmail.com In your first paragraph please include your type of CP, how it effects you and your age(s) while pregnant. Please keep your submissions under 2 pages in length and please keep them free of cruel and/or vulgar language. Even though I have not blogged for 18 months this site receives very regular traffic and I am sure that if you share your story there will be someone you help.
Thank you to all my readers! I wish you success in all your goals.
